Stars Reach Weapons & Combat Abilities (Build 8.4.6)

Third-person action combat with a hint of bullet hell. You dodge and weave or pop a reflector shield to bounce energy beams back at enemies. Weapons and a module socketing system supply the ability pool, and there are classic tab-targeting and homing-bullet options for players who do not want to aim.

Pistol

XP: Its own XP type — you must use a pistol to progress the pistol tree

Default battery size 6. Every projectile-firing ability spends 1 battery per projectile; the battery recharges after a few seconds without firing. Since the 8.3.0 rework projectiles travel much faster with far less homing.

Ability Effect Known issues at introduction
Double Tap Fires two quick shots at once.
Ricochet One projectile that bounces to nearby valid targets. Visual was bugged at introduction; the effect itself works.
Unload Fan the hammer — fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.
Double Time Doubles the pistol battery size for a short time.
Pistol Whip Stuns enemies in front of you for a short duration. Shipped with placeholder visuals and no animation; functions correctly.

Grenade Launcher

XP: Its own XP type

Area control and crowd manipulation rather than raw single-target damage — three of its four abilities move enemies rather than just hurting them.

Ability Effect Known issues at introduction
Cluster A single projectile that detonates into a swarm of homing projectiles on impact.
Repulsor An explosion that knocks targets away from the centre of the blast.
Implosion An impact that drags targets toward the centre of the effect.
Uplift An antigravity field that slowly lifts enemies into the air and stops them moving for a short duration.

Healix

XP: Support line

The group-support weapon. Its model was updated and its targeting radius slightly increased during the Open Horizon cycle.

Ability Effect Known issues at introduction
Siphon Hold to fire a beam that locks onto an enemy and drains their health to restore some of your own.

Utility that changes fights

Item What it does
Reflector shield Bounces energy beams back at the attacker. Since 8.4.0 it lives in a generic utility slot, so you can equip two.
Grapple Traversal tool taught by an optional Haven mission. Also occupies a generic utility slot.

Why there is no damage table here

Ability names and effects are transcribed from the official Stars Reach patch notes that introduced them. Stars Reach does not publish damage numbers, so none are listed here — where a note says a visual is bugged, that is the developer's own known-issue text. A ranked "best weapon" list would need numbers Playable Worlds has not released and testing conditions nobody outside the studio can reproduce, so this page stays descriptive. What you can act on is the shape of each kit: the Pistol is a battery-managed single-target line, the Grenade Launcher is crowd control where three of four abilities move enemies rather than damage them, and the Healix is the group-support line. Pair those against your Focus and Stamina split rather than against a tier letter.
