Stars Reach Character Creation: The 9,000-Point Stat Split

Before this system shipped, every player in Stars Reach had identical stats and a hard-coded maximum health of 1,000. The allocation screen is what turned that shared baseline into a build decision — and because professions are classless and re-learnable, your stat split is one of the few choices you genuinely commit to at creation.

The three pools and their nine stats

Health — Survivability

Stat What it changes
Maximum Health The cap on your health bar. It was fixed at 1,000 for every player until this system shipped; now it can be higher or lower.
Constitution How fast the health bar regenerates.
Toughness Damage mitigation.

Stamina — Physical actions

Stat What it changes
Maximum Stamina The cap on your stamina bar.
Fitness Stamina regeneration rate.
Strength How much a stamina-based action costs — higher Strength means each action drains less.

Focus — Abilities and tools

Stat What it changes
Maximum Focus The cap on your focus bar.
Serenity Focus regeneration rate.
Concentration The spending rate for focus.

Read the pattern rather than memorising the names: every pool gets a size, a refill speed and an efficiency stat. Pushing points into Stamina does not just give you a longer bar — Fitness refills it faster and Strength makes each action cost less out of it. That is why a pure maximum-first split tends to feel worse in practice than it looks on the slider.

What the creator does and does not let you change

You choose a species and a body type, and the paper doll now renders your character correctly rather than approximating it. Playable Worlds has said further customisation is coming, and has not published a final list of face, hair or facial-hair options — so if you are searching for whether hair colour is in, the honest answer is that the option set is still moving and no official list exists to quote.

Equipment slots you are building toward

Slot Notes
Tools Profession tools — Pathfinder, Harvester, Instaformer and the rest.
Utility Gear Two generic slots mapped to C and R by default. Since 8.4.0 these are not hard-wired to grapple and shield, so you can carry two shields, or put the grapple on C.
Mobility Gear Movement equipment.
Clothing Behaves like proper equipment. Some pieces occupy multiple slots — overalls cover top and bottom.
Accessories Cosmetic and support items.

One 8.4.0 change matters more than it sounds: the dedicated grapple and shield slots became two generic utility slots on C and R. You can now run two reflector shields, or move the grapple wherever it suits you. Starter clothing also stopped granting stat mods in the same patch, so there is no longer a way to skip ahead through gear at creation.
